FDL GOP Secretary attends JD Vance Rally
10/28/2024
Excitement was palpable at Racine Memorial Hall, where crowds packed the venue to maximum capacity in anticipation of Senator JD Vance’s speech. The event was buzzing, and outside, police confirmed that the hall had reached its limit—no more guests could enter as energy mounted for the evening’s main address.
Inside, the night kicked off with opening remarks from Senator Ron Johnson at 5 PM, whose fiery speech set the tone, denouncing comparisons of conservatives to figures like Hitler and calling out the political left. Johnson’s praise for JD Vance’s articulate style and clear vision raised the energy even further, prepping the crowd for the main event.
JD took the stage at 5:35 PM, delivering a speech that was a masterclass in both humor and seriousness. He immediately drew the audience in with clever jabs at prominent figures, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Referring to recent comments about Madden NFL gameplay, he highlighted what he saw as a misplaced attempt to connect with young voters.
In a lighthearted critique of Walz’s tweet, which claimed, “AOC can run a mean pick 6 – and I can call an audible on a play,” Vance poked fun at the football faux pas. “I don’t know what it means to ‘run a pick-six,’” he quipped. “You run a spread offense; you run a West Coast offense.” The crowd laughed as he added, “And this guy’s supposed to be a football coach? I thought to myself, maybe I actually know more about football than Governor Tim Walz.”
Building on this, Vance delivered a final punchline: “And it’s appropriate, because I think that Donald Trump knows more about working at McDonald’s than Kamala Harris.” The room erupted in laughter and applause, with many seeing Walz’s tweet as another example of the left’s struggles to connect authentically with voters.
Many people took to X, joining in on the laughter over the Minnesota governor’s tweet. Popular political commentator Matt Walsh summed up the reaction earlier in the day, tweeting, “For those who aren’t familiar with basic football lingo, the phrase ‘run a mean pick 6’ is roughly equivalent to saying that a basketball player scored a home run at the buzzer.”
One of the biggest eruptions from the crowd came when Vance took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris, referencing a recent interview on The View where she was asked if there was anything she would have done differently than President Biden over the past four years. Harris had responded, “There is not a thing that comes to mind in terms of — and I’ve been a part of most of the decisions that have had impact.” Vance seized on this, joking about “softball interviews,” adding, “The problem with a softball interview is you still have to be able to hit a softball.”
The crowd burst into laughter and applause as he proposed a new slogan for his opponents: “Nothing comes to mind.”
One of the night’s defining moments was Vance’s fiery take on border security and national priorities. He pointed to a recent cartel-related arrest just an hour north of Milwaukee as proof of why strong action on immigration is essential, saying it’s non-negotiable when it comes to national security. Then, referencing those “who stormed the beaches of Normandy” to defend American values, he delivered a line that brought the crowd to its feet: “I looked at the dictionary, I thought very hard about it and I came up with the perfect term - If you think those brave men were fighting for an open border or sex change surgeries for illegal aliens the proper term for you is dipshit.” The audience erupted in applause, and chants of “JD” echoed through the hall, capturing the rally’s electric energy.
As JD Vance wrapped up his speech, he left the crowd with a call to action: to vote and to back leaders who put Americans first. When he stepped off the stage, the energy in Racine Memorial Hall was unmistakable, and the audience left with a strong reminder of what they believe is at stake.
